Absolutely - without a certain amount of tension the gold-linked fence won't hold together. Like a jewelry chain when it is being worn - the links don't push or pull - they just gently hold on to each other. And then there is also the tension that exists between the links of the chain and the wearer itself... or is that the wearer and the chain itself? That must be where the flipside to the benefit comes in!
